Is there a solution for bringing back the possibility to scroll up in the console of modern GNU/Linux systems? I've read that it has been stripped from the kernel.I am using a console only System in my shack and don't want to use tmux or screen. I want to switch ttys with Alt+Fx and scroll with shift+page[up/down]

@michael From this #phoronix post, the kernel scroll back code in FBCON and VGACON disappeared circa #Linux kernel 5.9https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-5.9-Drops-Soft-Scrollbackcirca late 2020. I suppose (?) you could try to back port those patches but it seems like an awful lot of work. Or run a pre-5.9 kernel - 5.4 is LTS until Dec, 2025, that puts you on something like Ubuntu 20.04.

@w8emv thank you Ed for your excellent answer! Changing/patching kernels might not be the best solution since I am on a raspberry pi but I'll look into it.This is annoying :(Thank you!

@F1RUM @w8emv @M0YNG @do1mj Thank you all for your input. I've solved the problem by installing OpenBSD.
