@tanepiper definitely has that early internet, DIY p2p feel. Makes me a bit nostalgic. But then that old internet had its share of abuse, harrasment etc, so maybe it'll be better this time around. If utopias fail, they can nonetheless fail better, right?

@theta_max The difference was that internet 1.0 wasn't made up of algorithmic platforms that *generated* abuse, and had a strong set of cultural norms - based on experience of what works - about how to disincentivize and deal with misuse when it cropped up (don't feed the trolls, etc). The 'verse definitely feels like a renaissance of that style of internet, but with the addition of some of the useful features developed in the internet 2.0 (or "Web 2.0") social media era.@tanepiper
