Twitter staff have been told to work 84-hour weeks and managers slept at the office over the weekend as they scramble to meet Elon Musk's tight deadlines, reports say https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-twitter-staff-layoffs-long-hours-shifts-work-jobs-2022-11Textbook example of how to run off your qualified employees. No one worth a crap would put up with that nonsense.

@tek Perhaps that's the point of the whole ordeal. Let the current employees know that they have to work an absurd amount of hours, current employees become old employees. Next, hire cheaper employees with fewer qualifications and experience so the cost of labour is reduced, creating more available funds to pay the folks who helped Musk buy Twitter. This is what happens when labour is unorganised.

@tek At this point it's probably best for him to run things into the ground. Call it a loss on his taxes and move on to the next free PR machine to feed his ego.

@zeerphling Cheaper employees probably can't keep that thing running. But yes, this is a shining example of why to organize.

@tek Worked for Trump when he bankrupted a good part of Atlantic City (and 3 or so other "ventures"). Maybe that musky skunk is going to try to play off virtual property as virtual real estate.

@tek When it's convenient to a sociopath, anything is possible. It's just a shame we built our society around the concept that everyone's a sociopath, so only sociopaths see real extravagance and individual power.

@tek Forcing talented people to quit is a lot cheaper that paying severance packages. It's also unethical, but that doesn't seem to bother the Bird Site's 44 Billion dollar man.

@tek This is how the new boss finds the workers who are most desperate for a job and/or the ones most likely to put up with blatant exploitation.

@tek it'd be interesting to see if someone tried that and got terminated with cause. I'm sure the resulting lawsuit would be fascinating.
