       I just got an email from my telecom, Telus, with the subject "Arthur, you’re pretty unique. Let’s keep it that way."That feels really... threatning. And aggressive?It's actually an ad for a service they're trying to sell me. Identity theft protection, powered by Norton of all companies...We all know about Mouseland voting for cats, but this is kind of a step beyond? Like, they're teaming up with the robbers to make protection rackets more efficient for the end user/mark/victim.

       @relee I've occasionally wondered if the companies that charge a monthly subscription to send removal requests to 'people finder' sites and data brokers spend a lot of time and money to lobby against bills that would regulate data brokers in the first place…

       @Azure Maybe? I don't know if they have to. A lot of those businesses are in foriegn countries, so they don't have to do anything locally, while the countries getting the spam have to do multi-national policing actions in foriegn countries, usually India...
