It's kinda weird that I could spend my effort making services and tools to enable others to make stuff...But _I_ want to make stuff.I think there are people out there who are doing support because they like it, not bcause they're desperate to make money or because they're "Taking one for the team.", but I do wish there were more and doing more.In particular, it would be nice to have some sort of way to send money internationally that wasn't socially conservative.

@relee This is basically the one thing that makes me slightly sympathetic to bitcoin. The miner/pump 'n dump thing can go heck off. But I think people can legitimately want a way to send funds to someone that isn't subject to the whims of payment monopolies.Of course even being sympathetic to bitcoin, the environment footprint just makes it an overall bad choice.

@Azure Yeah, the whole "You can trade funds without trusting the other person!" was a big selling point, because people don't trust eachother anymore. It's great for crimes and money laundering, which sounds bad if you forget that sodomy is a crime in many places, and sex work is often punished even where it's not criminalized anymore...I heard thaat Etherium switched to a different 'proof of work' that is less pollutey, but I don't know what it is?

@relee Well, you can trade funds without trusting the other person is kinda' false. If I'm sending someone money by any means I still have to trust they are who they say they are, they'll use it for what they claim, whatever. But not having some monopoly be able to raise the sails on the Censor Ship because they want to curry favor with the religious right is pretty useful.Proof-of-Stake is, as I understand it, less environmentally destructive, though it is LITERALLY 'rich get richer'. (That's what 'stake' means. You prove you /have money/.)

@Azure Yeah I didn't want to suggest that they lived up to that claim, but that's what people wanted it to be, and what they claim it is or is supposed to be.I guess it's like politics, where those liberals aren't very liberal and those conservatives aren't very conservative, and if they're not breaking promises they're doing the exact opposite of their promise just to rub it in. ^.^;;Money itself is such a surreal thing. It's all fake, not just crypto. Even the "Gold Standard" was fake.
