#MappingChallenge (Day 79/100)Today stumbled upon a reopening of a sushi bar. Had to ask the cook to get details on the opening hours. Was shocked to learn that they reopened two weeks ago and no one in #munich caught that change 😅. I remembered mappers being faster in that regards.Summary:osmand: 3#OpenStreetMap #münchen

@barefootstache POI's is the one thing that OSM does much worse than google maps in my experience. I'm curious how Google has so much POI information. I wouldn't say it's always accurate, but it's more up to date than OSM

@TheStroyer I don't agree directly. Google is a yellow pages and has access to a web crawler, so everything that has a website will be up-to-data. But that is only a very small subset of all POIs. Remember things like benches, waste baskets, recycling centers, etc. are considered also as POIs and those don't appear on Google Maps.

@barefootstacheThis. Business could be lacking on OSM, but there is so much more to this. Even when it comes to business description OSM has more tags, my recent discovery: a tag for restaurants for delivery, you can set if they deliver and if they use for example uber eats you can add that too. @TheStroyer

@potato_lisper @barefootstache Google also adds a lot of tags, like the type of food in a restaurant, type of service and facilities. This is often not done in OSM. Google is also much more detailed in this

@TheStroyerThat's something people can add, and there is even more tags. The difference is that you can help change that and not make big corpo profitable at the same time@barefootstache

@potato_lisper @barefootstache it's possible to add and there are probably restaurants that are better tagged than in Google maps, but there is only so much volunteers are willing to do. It's not very fun to add tons of tags to a restaurant, unless better tooling/automation is built around it. It's also very hard to keep up with new restaurants and opening hours without a web crawler.

@TheStroyerCheck streetcomplete it's the best entry level survey tool for OSM. Recent update added ability to add missing buildings and businesses @barefootstache
