Fuck browsers that don't allow you to add custom search engines.May their developers be damned to hell.

Chrome on Android*.Also Tor Browser last time I checked. But that's almost understandable because it forces users to be homogeneous and therefore anonymous.* Come to think of it, this may just be because it's an old version.

@Hyolobrika There's no reason those features can't be added. Android is just Linux, and apps are just Java. Phones just don't get full feature sets, which I agree is annoying when they're literally just computers.

@newt @Hyolobrika Well, I don't really see Android or iOS as the issue since they do the job. App features aren't limited by the OS when the features are in the app code. For example, adding search engine selection to Chrome or Safari is an app limitation, not an OS limitation.

@inference @Hyolobrika android is hyper-centralised around google services and the apps that don't use them are often severely borked. That's the main problem with it. Either you use Google, or you're screwed.

@newt @Hyolobrika > android is hyper-centralised around google services and the apps that don't use them are often severely borked. Not entirely, but agree with the Google/Play services monopoly. AOSP isn't even related to Play services or Google at all (developers are irrelevant to how it works), it's just that Google has been pushed, Android has pretty much *become* Play services. It is possiblr to get sane apps such as Signal/Molly, Conversations, and Husky, which don't rely on GMS at all.

@dushnygik @Hyolobrika It doesn't. You have to compile it into an APK, but the underlying Java code works with slight modification.I didn't even mention WORE, only the memory-safety aspect.

@dushnygik @Hyolobrika The UI is what allows the user to interact with the OS/app. You don't need to be able to change anything in order to do that.I'm using my phone perfectly fine without customising the UI.

Are you going to rewrite the old version to work on the newer OS? You can already do that on Android.
