I am told that Mastodon is too "complicated", and "regular people" need something "simple" like Twitter.I find this an extremely bizarre objection.I mean, I genuinely find the Twitter interface LESS intuitive. WTF are they talking about?Federation itself does add a tiny bit of complexity, and that's unavoidable. But are you really going to say "I need to be confined to a single corporate entity, because I can't handle being free -- because, decisions?"I mean, that's just so sad.

@TerryHancock People be like "Mastodon is too complex"Then they go to church on Sunday like "Yes this mythology built on layers of translation errors rife with centuries of conflict is simple enough for me, thank you"

@marenzie @TerryHancock I’m witnessing the top minds of our generation struggle with the concept of more than one website on the internet.

@TerryHancock I see Local as "this is the community of people who are like me" and Federated as "Let me discover new stuff."

@marenzie @TerryHancock Mastadon is not an oral tradition, though. If Mastadon was talked about around the dinner table, people would not have a problem with understanding it.Also part of Mastadon is hostility to users, thats why Plemora and Soapbox are so popular. There's nothing at all complicated about using a Soapbox or Plemora frontend.
