@cyberpunklibrarian What is your thought on Solarpunk? I have started seeing it being mentioned more and more.

@shellkr I am ALL FOR IT. Philosophically, I see Solarpunk and Cyberpunk as yin and yang. Where Cyberpunk is about high tech, darkness, and individualism; Solarpunk is about high tech, light, and community. One tends to focus on despair and the other on hope.I've been reading some Solarpunk stuff -- fiction and non -- and I think that philosophy is a positive way forward. Honestly, I'd like to keep cyberpunk fiction and make solarpunk a reality, ya know? ☀️

@cyberpunklibrarian Hahaha! Yeah, I with you on that. I find the emergence on Solarpunk to be both logical and organic.

@shellkr It's a bit reactionary, to be sure. Because the world has become incredibly cyberpunk. As the old saying goes, the cyberpunk books were meant to be a warning, not a guide.

@cyberpunklibrarian Yeah, I guess so... but in my mind without knowing it I have been philosophically thinking on solarpunk solutions and that the world are on the right track although lately cyberpunk has become more vivid.I think the difference is the openness of the tech and that depending on who are on top it will determine what happens.

@shellkr Indeed! See, I talk about FOSS being a cyberpunk thing because I'm leveraging something fun an cool (cyberpunk) against something that might only be of mild interest to people (FOSS).In any cyberpunk novel, movie, or media - if a hacker discovers a new bit of tech or a new way to do something, they don't open source that! That's their edge, that's what's keeping them alive and putting food on the table.Solarpunk is literally all about sharing tech to put food on the table. 😄
