People don't want Twitter censoring tweets but also they also want no bots and to only see their echo chamber which is only possible if some centralized entity does the hard work of filtering the content for them. The moment they realize they have to spend a considerable amount of time doing the grunt work of moderating the content they receive they will jump ship.

@feld Yeah... it's going to be interesting, for sure. I can't help but think Mastodon/Fediverse has a better chance than many to absorb a lot of it but you're right in that there's a limit.

the Twitter script kiddies have not even begun to target the Fediverse yet and it will be a bloodbath when it happens.Expect an insane amount of automatically registered/deployed domains and instances programmed to spam hateful shit. Nobody will be able to keep up. People will have to move to a whitelist approach which cripples federation. Expect Mastodon to introduce some sort of "Federation Request" mechanism that is like a Follower Request for instance admins to slog through.And when the backlog is thousands and the moderators are tired the entire thing breaks down and fractures the entire network beyond repair.
