If #mastodon #fediverse #TwitterMigration becomes a threat to @elonmusk@twitter.com and @twitter@twitter.com, would they shadowban us talking about it? Even if they said they weren't, how could they prove it? They're not planning to be a public company who needs to be honest w shareholders anymore.

@wjmaggos I'm guessing that their userbase will be largely right leaning moving forward. If they figure out that censorship is still happening, they'll cancel #Twitter like they cancelled #GETTR

@realcaseyrollinsyou think conservatives care about censorship generally or censorship of views they like? I think it's the latter. Just like progressives. People who think all censorship is a problem are what I call liberals. They put understanding what's actually happening in the world and good faith conversations about it, above "winning".

@wjmaggos @realcaseyrollins Conservatives believe different things in different times and places. Since the US was founded on classical liberal principles, there's always been a strong libertarian streak in American #conservatism . So yes, certainly some US conservatives oppose censorship in general.

I think it’s a 50/50 split.A good litmus test would be, see which righties want to ban/censor the types of content exposed by #LibsOfTikTok.Parents certainly want #LGBT propaganda out of their schools (well, mostly trans propaganda it seems). It will be interesting to see if they want it off of the internet too.

@wjmaggos we could tell a shadow ban by having two accounts and verifying what is visible from one on the other. I’m sure Musk wouldn’t be ethically opposed to such actions BUT it would run counter to his “anything goes!” dumpster fire of a dream. Not that that would stop him. He’d just mock anyone, including formal authorities, calling him out on it >_<

@wjmaggos @realcaseyrollins MAGA is probably more concerned with "winning" than with principle. Populist political movements are driven essentially by opposition to current elites; there is no policy position that necessarily follows from populism. Such a movement could be pro-war or anti-war, for instance, whatever is the opposite of current elite wisdom.

@wjmaggos I'm certain I've been shadowbanned on Twitter for promoting the Fediverse. Interaction from others has gone from dozens a day to nil. I removed their app from my phone today. I'm pretty much done with it. Every time I log in now I see so many good people leaving.

@wjmaggos I do not get it. Why are you this obsessed about people on Twitter.Facebook and Twitter have an important role to play. They have many deranged people in their orbits.These people have a place, where they can talk to themselves how discriminated they are, how they are tracked by opponents and how bad everybody else is.You would have to artificially create a space for all their negativity of all the professional victims and activists, if not for the existing Twitter.

@michaaa62What's special about social media (especially decentralized) is we decide what goes viral. I want everybody participating in that. That's how you get to the best possible world, where our social graphs not algorithms decide what we read and watch and listen to, not algorithms. Where the M5M is defanged. Where gatekeepers and advertisers don't have influence. Value 4 value will also be a big and necessary part of that.
