@stux to be fair, we never really did. It was a kinda dumb idea, and really only happened because centralized clocks meant folks didn't adjust their schedules as the sun shifted.The modern Shift always leads to more stress, car accidents, and other bad stuff

@stuxIn France, and other countries, it's so messed up! Before 1939 we were in the GMT timezone. Then Hitler decided it was not practicable to have multiple timezones so he switched us to GMT+1. That change was never turned back. Then came DST... It's a mess, time doesn't mean anything anymore

@stux It gets even better. Most of Arizona doesn't use DST but the Navajo reservation in NE Arizona does because bits of it are in other states that do. However, the Hopi reservation in Arizona is completely encircled by the Navajo reservation and they don't use DST!

@stuxA global time raises the same exceptions I have to the proposals to permanently adopt summer time: The sun don't be overhead at 12. This is unacceptable to me. I am willing to consider a global time that is pegged to my location, whatever it may be at any give time, however. @ScriptFanix

@stux There was discussion here about staying on daylight time year round. After someone mentioned that sunrise in winter might be between 9:30 and 10 AM, things went quiet. DST is basically useless.

@stux I don't know whether it's necessary,but it doesn't bother me one single bit (apart from the fact that I have to manually reset the odd clock (microwave e.g.)It was meant as an energy saving thing.. back in the day of incandescence light bulbs. I don't think it's worth it anymore (if it ever was)
