@laura wait so you just think it's bad to try to convince other people of things? I don't get it.

@laura so you're saying it's bad to have proselytizing as a core value of a religion because it tends to lead to those behaviors and outcomes?

@laura okay, thanks for clarifying for me, I don't have much else to say because I still have a lot of thinking to do about religion that goes deeper than my old position of "religion bad because it's fake"

@laura This entire take is pure bullshit, and is bigoted to the extreme, alongside showing a fundamental misunderstanding of the way culture and religion intersect, and a lack of actual research into the religions you’ve specifically chosen to demonise. In what fucking world do you get to say the world would be better off without two specific religions???

@laura @Kalarchy at the end of the day why should someone respect a religion that says there wrong for there existence? Im not saying direspect people who follow that religion but the religion itself is screwed up if its written "being homosexual is a sin" why should a gay person respect that system. And people who follow this part of religion are stupid thats just blindly following like use your head take it with a pinch of salt alot of religious people dont use god to hate so the ones who hate can do better.

@laura and yet despite only having experience with one religion, you choose to judge other religions and call them diseases, and to act as though you’re an arbiter of what religions are and aren’t “inherently harmful” as you put it.

@laura ah, because seeing a whole group of people as harmful is definitely a good thing. Stop trying to backtrack - in no way did I say that religion should be exempt from criticism, and I do support vehement criticism of religious institutions, but that’s an entirely different thing from saying these religions “spread like a disease” and that they are *inherently* harmful (and that the people who believe in these religions are inherently harmful)

@laura no you didn’t?? Re-read what you actually put down in that post, nowhere there did you mention that people who followed those religions were not inherently harmful. All you did put, was that the world would be better off without them, and that some religions are better than them, and a net positive to the world.
