So far Trisquel feels great. I've installed everything that I've used in Guix. Switched to Stumpwm from Ratpoison for the mate-panel to work, so I have something like Mate environment mixed with StumpWM keyboard-only experience. I would say that in such a way I access the best of the two worlds, If I'm lazy or someone else uses my computer he can do stuff with stumpwm using a mouse and mate-panel, open file manager, archives, run programs, and so on. Before that, I used raw ratpoison for years.

It is great to see - - emulate-fhs flag for Guix shell. Would be nice to somehow emulate fhs for packages, deb archives and so on, so you can port stuff easier with less messing with Guix absolute paths. But I guess it is hard or impossible.

@w96k On Trisquel, I was using fvwm and stalonetray (I don't like to have a panel that take the whole screen height of width), I just tried fvwm with Mate using mate-panel instead of stalonetray, it works well. I have the Mate environment but I can control the mate-panel with fvwm like any window. I like fvwm for its configurability (a bit complex but powerful) and the FvwmPager that allows me to see and arrange all windows across and within pages, it advantageously replaces window list/bar.

@oseo Fvwm is nice too. I like Emacs a lot, so I tend to use Ratpoison, Stumpwm or EXWM. I have used window maker as environment for using a mouse, but I've used it rarely. Thanks for sharing.

@w96k Thanks. I just read about ratpoison, the non-overlapping frames with maximized windows looks nice. I also use emacs and keyboard shortcuts a lot so I'll certainly give ratpoison a try. I am just wondering whether I can find something similar to the FvwmPager to see a kind of map of windows in all pages, using multiple workspaces without that is a pain.
