@matt Yes, it is very impressive. There is nothing in the photo to give a sense of scale. It might be a small model, even so, it is still cool.I did post the image in 2019, and, sadly, in the intervening years have forgotten the source.

@fitheach I think its legit in size and not a cleverly photographed scale model. It's on Adobe Stock with the category "Turkey" and a little more digging suggests it was built by Greenpeace in 2007.https://www.icr.org/article/whos-building-noahs-ark-this-time

Still not cold enough to need heating, but, this continual rain is causing problems.Washing takes an eternity to dry inside, without heating. Plus, I've got a mountain of dog-towels to dry, and four halters aren't sufficient.I'm going to light the Aga on Sunday.

@fitheach We've got an electric dehumdifier onboard. Essential when cruising in moist climate, especially where it's not freezing cold (in frosty climate, the air gets drier again). It produces a couple liters water a day (not suitable for drinking, but you could use it like distilled water for engine or car wiper fluid). The byproduct is a little waste heat, which does help. At night, we only run the dehum, no heating. Keeps the mould in check :)

@matt @fitheach it always struck me as being a little too small to actually house all the animals

@yngmar I do have a dehumidifier. It is a portable unit, about the size of a beer keg. In a big house the effect is limited to one room, really. Why do you consider the dehumidifier water to be non-drinkable? Still salty?

@fitheach @yngmar We use a dehumidifier for our laundry, works really well and saves a ton of energy in Winter. I wouldn't drink the water distilled from that room as it'd be full of washing fluid distillates, but with some cleaning I'd happily use the unit elsewhere to make potable water in an emergency.

@fitheach No, it's mostly distilled water. But the dessicant disc (or evaporator coils in a compressor type) are inaccessible for cleaning and will inevitably collect airborne dust, pollutants, mould growth (when switched off) and industrial coatings and residue from production.I wouldn't even use it to top up lead acid batteries due to the contaminants, much less drink it.
