@raimondaslapinskas Unconditional love is love with no conditions attached to it. It's exactly what it says on the tin.

@urusan I have experienced what feels like unconditional love, but my inner cynic suspects that that's simply because, amongst those folks, I was or have been of sufficient caliber such as to meet their conditions implicitly and thus never need to learn about them.

@urusan Unconditional love is not a good idea. What if your lover becomes manipulative or abusive? Are you gonna keep loving her/him unconditionally? What if she/he cheats you time after time, constantly breaking your trust? One should try to find a good balance between loving others and loving yourself. Everything changes constantly, how can you be sure your feelings, which are fueled by unconscious forces, do not have conditions? And why shouldn't they?

@urusan it rather depends on what you mean by 'love'.If we define it as 'overall working for a world where the loved one is better off' then unconditional love should be the thing we shoot for. There's no reason why I shouldn't want people whom I dislike or who have harmed me to be happier, healthier, and better along with wanting them to keep away from me.But it's a rather impersonal kind of love. Being part of a society that believes that nobody deserves unhappiness and everyone ought to be much happier than they are, including the worst people you can think of, is good for the worst people you can think of and everyone else. But "I dislike everything about you and that's why I work to improve a social system that allows you to be happy while letting me have nothing to do with you." would not be a thing many folks would like to hear.(But it's still better than either letting abusive parents suffer and starve or forcing children to continue having them in their lives.)
