I'm either sacrificing 1 to 1.5 hrs of my own time (haha no) or the company's time just to sit next to coworkers while we're all in the same online meetings. π

@Gina I decided yesterday that I wouldn't return to the office, without very good reason any time soon...Shared desks are a thing now and although I didn't have to deal with the nuisance of random train schedules, an hour on my bike with heavy wind in 7Β°C just to get to an overcrowded office and work at a desk, way less ergonomic than mine at homeI went back home after less than three hours π΄#WFH all the way!!!!

@totoroot @Gina I wouldn't want everyone to be at home all the time. While it does have it's benefits, I feel like having a team together does improve productivity. We currently offer one to two days of homeoffice, so we have at least one day with all of the programmers at the office

@Gina@fosstodon.org I still like going to the office to see my colleagues, but it's 2 hours of travel. I can do some work while I'm on the train, though, so I consider travel time as regular work time, which makes it way less bothersome to travel. Also makes it feel less of a problem when there's delays. And it means I can travel outside of peak hours, so no big ass crowds either.

@Gina Honestly, Iβm looking forward to getting out to the office two to three days per week, as part of a hybrid schedule. I like taking the train, biking, and walking downtown. I miss running into friends and old colleagues when travelling to or from the office, or while getting lunch. I miss seeing people in real space, impromptu after-work drinks or trips to the art gallery, and I really miss my after-work runs along the water in downtown Vancouver! π

@Gina don't forget the added benefit of not being able to concentrate proper as someone in the room is always talking (to you/on the phone/with each other)

@GinaI was on the IC to Nijmegen a few hours later. When it was near Amsterdam Central (my destination) it suddenly became the IC to Amsterdam CS and the conductor told us it would not go any further due to staff shortages.Great to see they had the same issue earlier in the morning and didn't tell anyone...

@Gina Thatβs just distopian. The whole purpose of getting to the office a couple times a week is to have face to face communication.

@Gina An overwhelming majority of the open plan offices are in the range from pretty bad to just plain horrible. A well designed office can be a great be a great work environment.
