@craigevil I do know tokodon exists (duh, of course I do as maintainer of https://linuxphoneapps.org 😎😂), and I'll certainly check it out again now on my Plasma running Pocophone F1 later. I vaguely recall that it had an issue that drove me nuts when I last tried it, if it's still there I'll finally do the right thing and file an issue.

@craigevil I get signed in via Tokodon and then whenever I open it nothing loads. I use Soapbox FE and just make a web app via nativefier for now until a descent GTK app comes along.@linmob

@linmob That is sad indeed. Not having a nice #mobileLinux #fediverse client sucks . We are open for recommendations for alternatives. Also perhaps someone would like to pick up the torch, no need to reinvent the wheel.

@mobian Well, there's Tokodon, but not everybody will like to install all the dependencies that requires as a Phosh user. I also really hope someone picks it up and maintains it going forward.After all, considering the patchset that, e.g., @postmarketOS had to apply to make it build with current Vala makes it clear that it was in a somewhat sad state for a while. Maybe this is an oppprtunity!

@linmob I've actually attempted that but never had any luck getting anywhere. Using a webapp isn't to bad as when daily driving the Pinephone I find myself using and checking my phone far less often. I actually miss that about it. I'm back on Googleless Android for now until I'm able to replace my Pinephones broken screen.

Sadly, with "scroll-intense" apps I keep running into a situation where Qt/QML apps turn all black every then and now on Phosh (on postmarketOS 22.06.2), which is not much of an issue with apps like Kasts or Itinerary, but a more frequent annoyance with apps like Tokodon.

@niccokunzmann There are quite a few people who still have open pull requests (https://github.com/bleakgrey/tootle/pulls), maybe one of them decides to take over. IMHO, an setting up a Github org and forming a team to keep Tootle going would be the most promising outlook.

@linmob @craigevil I know that it's off-topic, but may i ask you how's Plasma on Pocophone F1? Is it alright to use currently? I'm still evaluating different DEs to choose from, i have an F1 at hand given me by it's previous owner, i only need to replace the screen, unlock the bootloader and flash a Postmarket OS on it

@djbrine1 @craigevil Depends on the use case: Plasma Mobile is great on the Poco F1 a "for play" device, but answering calls is just easier on Phosh, so if I were to daily drive the Poco (instead of PinePhone or Librem 5), I would likely switch to Phosh first.

@linmob @dylanvanassche @mobian @postmarketOS Is this still a problem? It's definitely related to the GPU (driver) on the pinephone. I thought it was solved by setting that(*) env variable as a workaround. Kasts has that hardcoded since some time.If it's still a problem, I'll see if I find some time to look at this again.(*) I would have to look up the exact name.

@mogwai @dylanvanassche @mobian @postmarketOS @linmob I now added QT_ENABLE_GLYPH_CACHE_WORKAROUND=1 (which I somehow can't remember) to my env, and so far things are working great. I really need to package up my /etc/environment (at least for me personally) to reduce the time of initial setup.

@linmob @dylanvanassche @mobian @postmarketOS Yes, that would probably help. AFAIK this is only needed for the pinephone.I don't know if pmos also ships with e.g. QT_QUICK_CONTROLS_MOBILE=1? That might also be useful to get a nice layout for plamo/kirigami apps. (But that might already be covered.)
