Sometime they need to get their courage up, cold-approaching is so rare that doing it with a millennial/zoomer woman could very well BSOD them for the first 30 seconds of interaction, by the time you see her again she might be more comfy when she realizes you just left without making a move on her.

Now, this whole banana thing rests on you not really caring about the outcome, and not being terribly invested in getting her number or going out. Job one is just to be friendly and personable, anything after that is gravy. i know so many guys who pretend to miss small town america who quickly complain about all the small, day to day "time wasting" interactions. community means that a walk to your mailbox may end up a 30 minute chat with the neighbor as he drives home from work. It means that you may have to help the old lady down the lane when she says she got a new TV but she can't get it to work. It's an economy, and you gotta pay into it. Little moments like this are just an extension of that.

I know, church CAN be a good spouse-finding fishin’ hole, but my experience has not shown me much to be hopeful for. many of the girls looking to get married in most congregations (my experience comes from dropping in on protestant congregations while in town, so I’ve been able to get a little bit of a cross section in some areas) are about 70% as unmarriagable as they were back in the city before moving back home. They’ve been living rough and flouting the laws of got for the better part of 1.5 decades only to have a last-minute “oh shit” panic and decide they really actually like church after all! Some can indeed be repentant but most often they’re just regretful of the consequences. They’re tired of the sexual rat race, and they see “church” as being a fertile field full of fuckin’ chumps they can predate as long as they reach back to their childhood and repeat the ‘church phrases’ like a pious young woman. Old fats like this dude will decry you when you say “yeah, no, I’m not comfortable with her resume.“ I don’t want my kids being told that “it’s okay to make mistakes, if I didn’t make them I wouldn’t be here today with your father! go out and live your life!!!!“, or have a woman who insists on still going by her porno name for celeb status while swearing she’s out of the industry.*

@CenturianFrend The greatest advice is to be charming. I know it’s hard to describe but if you’re smart enough you can make some improvement on it. You just look outwardly and try to make other people happy. Do they look forward to having you around? Do people say “are you going to that thing on friday? come on, I dont’ wanna go if you aren’t!” With the more autistic guys I try to make them think about it like running an emulator of the people around them, you think about how they’re feeling and acting and you can try to alleviate that. Once you’re outgoing and gregarious then you start sending out that signal, people follow it and women are IMMENSELY sensitive to it. If they see people start walking towards you when you enter a room, you’re on their radar. It affects all aspects of life, too. it’s how you get good jobs, how you meet good women, how you get out of trouble, how you get people to cover for you. And it can often be boiled down into the simplest idea: “Am I making their lives better when I pass through?”

They describe it as tiresome to interact with people, because they're trying to do the thinking for a couple people in order to fit in. For them the concern is more along the lines of giving them confidence, comfort in their own skin. I like finding something they're good at and having them teach others.

@Dicer @CenturianFrend I'm not really talking about that phase so much as the adult world. Like, when things are hairy and stressful at work, people should be happy to see you. When you show up they should feel like you're nonplussed and in a good mood, ready to tackle anything, that your confidence rubs off on them like a mascot or a leader. People WANT to have someone like that around, someone that acts as a heat sink for all their stress and anxiety, someone who just shows up and calmly solves some problems while cracking jokes and lightening the mood. Sthe student/burnout/ phase doesn't last forever, and it's actually pretty easy to be likeable in comparison, the pressures are different and you aren't as beaten down as you are compared to later. I guess it does kinda dovetail into "*burdens are made for shoulders, not for hips*" in a way, since so many workers are female. This is part of rising out of the normal ranks and becoming a rock, in some respects.

It's like having a sales job and having to practice your pitch, just with a different end goal. @ohimax There's no single right answer, we're all playing the odds at the end of the day. For all the talk about bodycount I still haven't dug in to mine, I assume it's 2, but it's not something I wanna go learning just yet. I think a lot depends on her heart, if she looks back on the profligate times fondly or not. Too many get a taste for it and it haunts them forever
