Got myself a Roborock S7 vMax Ultra, the one with obstacle recognition and the fancy dock that empties dirty mop water. It surpassed my expectations so far and I'm pretty sure I'll love it even more as time goes on since I'm used to walking around barefoot so having floors mopped daily is pretty much a necessity.

@hellpie I've got a Roborock S7 and it's totally worth it even though I currently live in a one room apartment. I'm planning on rooting it and putting valetudo on it to get rid of the botnet soon.

@pantsu I'm keeping it on a guest network under strict access policies for both time and bandwidth and it's doing incredibly well for that, the way I understood it is it will work perfectly fine for everything except scheduling if you fully remove wifi. Valetudo unfortunately doesn't work with the dock, the mopping is pretty shit and the S7 base model is barely supported through very unofficial hackery of the already very unofficial valetudo project. I could likely get it all working dock included I just don't care to waste time on a hobby project when I can solve every issue I have with it by just locking it out of the world except for the few minutes it needs to kick off the schedules.

@hellpie ooh, thats a smart solution. I want to be able to use the valetudo home assistant integration to make it so that the vacuum knows to start when no one is home.

@pants i live alone and wfh so i can just start it when i go out for my daily walk, takes one hour to vacuum and mop, 1h45m if i do the double pass max+ and intense mopping, by the time i'm back everything is clean and mopped, the doormat is somewhere else, the robot is stuck in the bathroom (probably should build a ramp for it) and all is well. The doormat I should probably fix by using the rubbery grip thing ikea sells but i'm just lazy.

@hellpie yeah, mine moves around my front doormat as well as my bathroom mat, luckily it still manages to find it's way home and dock at the end.I live alone as well for now so starting it before I go to the store works great but I will be moving soonish I hope and will no longer live alone then.

@pantsu it's not a matter of finding the way back to the dock, it just can't lift itself over the wooden bit at the door, entering is hard by doable, but inside the bathroom the floor is extremely sloped so even the bit touching the door is just out of the robot's height limit and it bumps into it no matter how it approaches the wooden bit

@hellpie taping down a thin piece of wood on the floor right before the piece it can't climb over can maybe fix it. Like a leftover baseboard piece

@pantsu unfortunately i don't have that, and the ikea furniture i have didn't come with any leftover pieces (which tbh it's good news) but yeah i'm aware, i'll probably use plastic rather than rubber since the shower is right next to it, idk why they decided to use wood when they built the apartment kind of a shit decision
