Is there a good way to have my system share a kill ring with #emacs? There is cognitive dissonance in going to emacs, where I can cut multiple things and then yank the one that I want right here, to my browser, where I have to make sure the thing I want to paste is the most recent thing I copied/cut.

@worldsendless a clipboard manager? https://www.slant.co/topics/6280/~clipboard-managers-for-linuxThis wouldn't _exactly_ integrate, since I don't think copying stuff into the clipboard also adds it to the kill ring, just the latest copy is accessible to Emacs. But the other way around might work? Anything added to the kill ring should also be added to the clipboard (or at least is possible), so the clipboard manager might see all of them? I have never tried it myself.

@worldsendless Just give up on everything that is not #Emacs 🙂I use Emacs as my window manager (#exwm), my mail client (#mu4e), my terminal (M-x shell and M-x vterm) and probably more.

@debacle Me too, except with #gnus. But I do a lot in my browser, and that's where I miss my kill ring.

@worldsendless Me too. I use #eww for certain things, but far less than Firefox. My plan is to move at least my #Mastodon usage from Firefox to #Emacs (mastodon.el), but breaking habits is hard 🙂

@debacle I tried eww for a while, but found the system freezing during browser waits was a problem for exwm. I was very pleased when I switched to W3M for the same uses. I use them for read-only needs of the internet (which is a lot). The thing is, Firefox is GOOD at social media. For example, see the attached image, where each color indicates a different Firefox Container for each of my Mastodon accounts with their matching Twitter accounts, and a few others.

@debacle @worldsendless I'm also trying to use Mastodon.el more. Unfortunately getting rid of a browser is extremely hard.

@eqf00 @debacle as a professional web dev I'm biased, but why get rid of a good browser? It is the culmination of a great deal of work and intelligence. Do you find it ethically/security questionable?

@worldsendless @debacle I just really like having an uniform user experience by staying in Emacs. I can customize it exactly as I want. Probably EXWM or something similar can integrate a browser, but I haven't really tried hehehe. And there is also the whole privacy issue.

@eqf00 @debacle I'm with you on the uniform experience thing. Emacs is quite good at interfaces
