       @mellium What the ecosystem probably needs most right now is reliable push notifications on iOS...My personal wish would be better support for people who want to host XMPP servers from their home which has the same problems as mobile phones (unreliable internet connection, changing IP address, ...).

       @kaip I don't know anything about iOS, so I probably can't help there. It strikes me that the issue might be a lack of iOS developers that use xmpp. Maybe this is more a task for an advocacy group to try and increase adoption?

       @kaip WRT hosting from home: what problems do you see there? It seems like it's no more difficult than any other kind of server?

       @mellium I run Prosody from my home. We discovered that sometimes messages my friends send me get lost (in the other direction too). There are no log entries on why this might happen. We know that something must be wrong with the s2s link since messages appear on other devices (but do not reach me). I frankly don't know how this can happen with TCP, but I suspect s2s stream management could solve this.

       @mellium @kaip @prosodyim Prosody ships with mod_smacks since 0.12, ensure you have it enabled and it should work for s2s too. Also ensure you have message archiving (mod_mam) enabled, that combination should ensure messages are either delivered or marked as not delivered.Then there exists various experimental modules that make detection of broken s2s connections faster, most recent addition being https://modules.prosody.im/mod_s2s_smacks_timeout.html
