"Hi, can you do this?- Well, I can, but most likely stuff will break completely so I really dont recommend it."Do it anyway, I really really need it"*does it**shits break*"Why is this broken? Fix it now"

@selea ultimately followed with: "No, I didn't ask you to do that at all" or "You didn't fully understand what it was I wanted. I meant do it this thing that's likely to break things then just make it not break things"

@selea @paul Which is exactly why I demand any changes that I don't find a good idea to be in writing, with a reply from me "this is not a good idea, but I'll do it if you take full responsibility for it"

@sotolf @selea I do that too... but then they never respond in writing, leave it a few weeks, then ask "How are we doing with that change I wanted to happen?"

@paul @selea Then I go to my manager, get him to talk with them, I don't do something without a written confirmation, I've done so twice and ended up with theater for weeks where I got nothing done, and my manager luckily has seen it too, and he agrees that usually when I say something is not a good idea, likely it isn't. Not that I'm never wrong, but I have a decent idea about what will break shit :p

@selea @paul I have learned that what people really mean when they say that is "I don't want a record of this, so I can't be held responsible for what I'm doing" So I'm stubborn when it comes to it. I don't know, it might make me a hard person to work with, but I have been burnt by it often enough that I have figured it's better being a hard person to work with than to be responsible for stuff that I said from the getgo is a bad idea.

@selea it's the service (usually IT) customer's version of the "having a cake and eating it, too" paradigm and funnily enough the way my former boss used to communicate withy colleagues and me.
