@sotolf @StampedingLonghorn I also don't get the ancestor-thing, but then again, I'm German. My partners family is almost obsessed to trace their history to Europe. The other thing is how people can take pride in perceiving to be part of a group they did nothing to achieve this "being part of" state. I'm German because my parents registered my birth in Germany - hiw does that trigger pride? (Aside from the fact that Germany and national pride is a whole new can of worms)

Yeah, WP has standard search, I liked the tweaks that relevanssi or ivory provide.Turns out, the search results page looks like something from the earliest web pages, unformatted text everywhere. Which is due to the blankslate child theme the designer at the time implemented, and by now everything has grown on that structure and is not easily replaced.Do any of you have an easy solution up your sleeve? :D

A few days ago I finished the #TheOdinProject foundations course! It took me several weeks since I started after @annasara mentioned the existence of it, with multiple breaks (move, covid infection and such nonsense). It was very often quite hard since those lessons where basically the first congruent experience in coding and learning a programming language for me but it very much solidified my resolve to make a career switch to something making me incredibly happy!#codingIsFun #webDev

Quick heavy-handed question to my #fediverse friends: to you know of an online workshop or sth comparable to work on my skills on how to react and engage with (in this case white) people who insist on using the n-word "because its in that Rap lyric so its okay" or "that's historic context"? All I can ever manage is yell, get high blood pressure, tell them off and leave the room. If they have a potential to learn, I'd like for them to understand why I (a white dude) find it physically sickening.
