The revitalization of Thunderbird (and its relative independence organizationally from Mozilla) is interesting, and makes me wonder: what do they know that I don't about Mozilla's ability to and interest in maintaining Gecko long-term?I honestly have been predicting Firefox will jump fully to Chromium in the next couple of years, for the last couple of years. ;)I'd be happy to be wrong, though. I want a strong ecosystem of multiple compatible implementations.

To be honest, though, even if we lose Gecko I'd rather have a non-profit Mozilla making a Chromium-based browser that's focused on both user extensibility and user privacy without the need to bleed off as much money on engine maintenance. It wouldn't be the worst thing.

@brion just the idea of this makes me want to put my head in the sand lol. "Best viewed in Internet Explorer" all over again. We're kinda already there, but it doesn't need to get worse lol.
