For my linguistic/sociolinguistic/social work folks there: How do you ask about someone's linguistic repertoire in a non offensive, non jargoning and non exclusive manner? I usually do "what languages do you speak" and then I had this interviewee who signs a sign language and I was like ahhhh sh*t how did I not take that into consideration :0b16:

because "what languages do you *use*" sounds weird & ambiguous doesn't it? (e.g. I used to use Cantonese but I'm no longer using it anymore am I still a canto user?)

@tusooa sounds a bit weird...i'm thinking about "what languages do you speak or sign" but WHAT IF SOMEONE'S FLUENT IN LATIN japhgphap9d8h9^*(^(*%*#*@(我好像有点钻牛角尖了)

@espero what languages do you know? (and at what level/how fluently are you able to use them/...)
