What always struck me was the scene of street life shown in the film, and it was basically the low rungs of society with women being for sale, and of course that scene of prostitution where they're shown moaning, and bodies simulating sex in almost clear rooms. These prostituted women are treated like a food service.And of course women are used throughout the entire movie. Even the resistance prostitutes their women for the cause of "freedom". Freedom, but not when it comes to men and women, not true freedom for women. There's so much stuff in this movie that's just appalling.

Your article highlights many of the problems with Blade Runner 2049.I watched this film and felt unclean afterwards. I rarely hate films but I did this one. The overwhelming misogyny was the main reason why.

I avoided ALL popular culture since I was a hippie chick 50 years ago, was a Second Wave and did NOT go for the pedowood movies, ever. I am deliciously absent of modern brotech movies, and this article reminds me WHY.The world of women's art, music, what literature and film made by women exist, it's been *enough. i am so illiterate about women's film and art, and my old twatter pal Genie Jeriko the art critic was a lifeline to me pointing out strong female painters, etc.....there is a World of Women's creativity out there, too.
