Jesse Ventura would show up at the gym a little bit before Arnold and splash himself with water so he'd look like he'd been working out longer, and then the two of them got into a workout competition, arriving earlier and earlier at the gym until they were getting there ridiculously ridiculously early. Carl Weathers told them he never needed to work out and his arms were just like that and would sneak out and go work out in the middle of the night when no one could see him

@checkervest animals and fungi are more genetically similar than plants and animals.we digest our food mechanically the same if you're looking for behavioral similarities.

@checkervest it's also very likely that fungi created the environment required for animals to succeed on land.obviously plants provide oxygen and food but fungi provide plants what they need to grow on land. otherwise we'd all still be stuck underwater.

@checkervest The moon is 400 times closer to the earth than the sun is. The sun is 400 times bigger than the moon.This is why they look the same size in the sky, which is what makes total solar eclipses possible.This isn't going to be the case on most planets, and it wasn't the case for all of earth's history either (because gravity, the distance between the earth and moon changes very slowly).We live on a charmed planet and in a charmed epoch where this is possible.

@checkervest Dae Jang Geum Park in South Korea contains 165,000 sq meters of permanent film sets encompassing 3 historical time periods, recreating the palace, etc. Over 30 historical k-drama series have been filmed there.I have watched enough to recognize parts of the set across series.

@bright_helpings @checkervestMany of the unusual properties of the Earth as a planet are somehow related to either evolution of or habitability by intelligent, multicellular life -- which is NOT coincidental. It's the "weak anthropomorphic principle": if it were not so, we wouldn't be here to talk about it.But not the Sun & Moon being the same size. No reason to believe that affects either.But it HAS had a huge impact on human culture. Just think about the role in dualist philosophies.

@TerryHancock I wonder how coincidental that is though. While the fact itself doesn't affect development of multicellular life etc I weakly suspect that the things that do (how much sunlight we get, how well we are protected from meteors etc) make it more likely for the sizes in the sky to match. @bright_helpings @checkervest
