Major update to The Privacy Raccoon!https://raccoon.ebin.cityAfter a lot of hours working on it I've almost finished the recommendations page. Every major section* is finished now, the ones missing are from miscellaneous.*except browser add-ons, I have to decide which approach to take here: if list all the add-ons that may help with privacy at the expense of fingerprinting or sticking to the basic ones.

I need to decide if I should create a mastodon account for the site. Since I don't want it to be a personal project but a community project it would make sense to separate it from my personal account.

@werwolf This is really slick! I was in the middle of putting together a list like this, but I definitely could not do better than yours. Thank you!

@sparky Thanks! Everything is public domain under the CC0. Copy as much as you want.Anyway, the project is open for contributions and further discussion in what should be recommended. Check out our repo if you're interested: https://codeberg.org/ThePrivacyRaccoon/websiteWe're not looking only into creating a list of recommendations, I'm also working on various privacy and security related guides, just in case you want to contribute.

@werwolf I wonder if it would make sense to have a browser extension that produces believable fake data. So that privacy is preserved but they don’t notice a lack of data.

@Byte that's the approach that I like the most. It should be carefully done tho. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of tools like that, since the most popular option seem to be the "blending in" approach.

@werwolf I've noticed that PaleMoon is no longer on the browsers section, did something change recently? Also, I hope to be knowledgeable enough to contribute in the future :)

@stormjim nothing. But multiple people told me that Pale Moon could be potentially insecure to use, due to the weaker sandboxing, smaller dev team and legacy codebase.I still like people, but it's true that it has some security concerns. IMO if you have JS disabled you're already blocking most threats. But I removed it anyway.
