       @kuba mastodon is quite heavy and resource intensive. It also has a lot of features which I won't use. Of course that it works flawlessly, but I was looking for an alternative that was lighter on my server resources.

       @r3vlibre Epycion is cool, idk how mature it is. I need to find an instance to test it. It lacks compatibility with Mastodon clients but it webUI supports text based browsers, which could be an work around for me.I considered Ktistec. If only it supported Mastodon clients it would be perfect. But it doesn't and the webUI relies on JS so it isn't an option for me.I'll look into Epycion because it's my best bet right now, thanks!

       @m2c_n3e I want to host it on my own server and Mastodon is quite heavy on resources compared to other software (even Pleroma is lighter). But if you have enough resources or you're going to pay for dedicated hosting, then Mastodon is a great option.

       @andyc I considered Pleroma, and it's one of my current options. I wanted to see if there was something lighter on resources (even if Pleroma is lighter than Mastodon). I know that I'm not going to find any software more mature than Pleroma, it's one of the best established fediverse software.

       Don't get me wrong, I love Fosstodon, which has been my home in the Fediverse since I joined back in 2020. I will continue using this account, because of the local timeline and as a secondary/backup.I just want to host my own infrastructure, that's all. Decentralization is the key feature for the fediberse and single user instances are the way to go for people that have the skills.

       @xarvos @humanetech @r3vlibre yeah, I'm seeing that it isn't mature yet. I'm testing other niche options but if nothing works I might just go with Pleroma.

       @nerdtronics I know, federation is of course a requirement. My problem with Honk is that there are no native clients.

       @tfb @xarvos @humanetech @r3vlibre yes, that's the Pleroma fork I'd use. I didn't know they had a home page, thanks

       @Doudouosm Misskey is written in TypeScript which is kinda slow (even if optimized for single user instances). And the webUI is heavy. It's not for me, thanks. Although it's interesting to see software focused on single user instances.

       @hyperactiv microblog looks interesting, but it's not mature yet. I think I'll test both Pleroma and GoToSocial and choose one of them.

       @otso yeah, I'm going to run my own instance.I'll probably go with Pleroma, I need to test it along with GoToSocial.

       @nerdtronics I'm working on a Artix Linux hardening guide (applicable to most distros with slightly modifications), but it's going to be for the paranoid. I want to cover the most extreme threat level.

       @twann I despise Cloudflare, but I doubt they're associated with any political group. Their most popular services are offered for free, anyone is able to use them.Cloudlfare, like most companies, only cares about money.

       @Mehrad @briar @fdroidorg even if the developers aren't uploading the app to F-Droid themselves, F-Droid uses reproducible builds, so you could check that the app in F-Droid has been built from a certain source code.(I have no idea about what happens with Briar in F-Droid, I'm just saying that you could verify the F-Droid build)

       @kzimmermann not necessarily, sometimes I retoot or post Big Tech news about some new shady feature/device. Even if the linked article shows the thing as something good, I'm sure that anyone following me will know that I'm against it.If someone reads that post out of context and without knowing me, it's possible that they'll think that I'm endorsing the new Big Tech's product tho.

       @rudolf text message is a general term. You can send a text message via Telegram, SMS, XMPP, Matrix or even by email since you're not specifying, it doesn't have to be a instantaneous messenger. So it could be pretty much anything. By using SMS you're saying the concrete messaging standard.That's only how I understand it

       For the people hosting Gitea instances: The Gitea project has been overtaken by a for-profit company, Gitea Ltd.There has been an Open Letter requesting Gitea to be managed by a nonprofit, but this company refused.Some members of the community have decided to create a community maintained fork. Read more about it here:https://gitea-open-letter.coding.social/updates/Just informing about this so when the fork is established everyone moves to it.
