       @BowsacNoodle @Shadowman311 It wouldn't necessarily be very easy to learn you Google account name through Mastodon just because you downloaded the app through the Play Store, but personally I run my phone without Google apps entirely because I don't even want Google to know what apps I do or do not use.

       @BowsacNoodle You can also download the APK right from their GitHub if you want, the app is a little barebones right now but it's UX is definitely a lot cleaner than Huskygithub.com/mastodon/mastodon-android

       @BowsacNoodle @Shadowman311 Unfortunately it isn't very easy to get started because you may need to learn how to root your device, install a custom recovery and then a custom ROM depending on your device.  I'm running LineageOS, which has decent support and documentation for a lot of devices.  XDA Developers forum is also a good resource.
