I enjoy fixing bugs much more than writing new software; especially obscure/hard bugs.

@penguin42 Here's a bug for you then: the software doesn't exist.

@penguin42 I don't like having to fix bugs to get the software to actually work properly.I remember a game called the pen and the dark on a Spectrum, if you followed a particular path, the only way to complete it was to edit the code.

@mansr True and those are important; I'm just finding it much harder to keep interest in most of those, compared to a nice juicy bug - like last weeks that ended up with hexdumps, trace-cmd, and kdb.

@wyliecoyoteuk So there's a bit of a difference between a bug that gets in my way and a bug I pick up because I decide to fix it; sometimes I fix bugs in open source software I use (I fixed a couple of Libreoffice ones that were pissing me off), sometimes I pick up random ones, and sometimes stuff I do at work I have a chance to fix stuff.

@penguin42 @wyliecoyoteuk Hardware bugs are the most fun, though. Especially when you find them in ARM's brand new flagship CPU core.

@mansr @wyliecoyoteuk Yeh those are fun; still looking at the number of revision numbers on ARM cores...

@penguin42 Pretty much the same for me except hardware rather than software. Very satisfying when a solution presents itself to you.
