@akeno @digdeeper presearch can be censored. everything goes through the frontend from what I've seen/heard.I would recommend yacy but the results are garbage. they'll supposedly get better as more nodes are added though.

@Hyolobrika @digdeeper I can't say anything about technical side, but using presearch is not much indeed, gigablast have been finding things quite well though better than searx. Looks like there isn't anything better.

@Tadano Btw, SearX still uses other indexes, so if the indexes you choose include censorship, your results will still be tainted. The only truly neutral search engine I know is mojeek, and it often blocks SearX instances.Bing directly doesn't seem to censor anything, however it doesn't work with SearxNG, and regular SearX has trackers in bing.Funny how even the savior SearX can't help us.

I run a Yacy node (which is great for finding actual blogs and independent articles not on substack) and switched to Brave Search a while back when DuckDuckGo said they'd start censoring stuff on Ukraine (Duck Duck Gone!)Brave Search kinda sucks though. I tried Yandex for a bit, but got too much stuff back in Russian constantly. I've been meaning to setup a SearX instance; which can aggregate from Google and help add privacy to those results. I already use Privacy Redirect to mask YouTube with Invidious, Wikiepedia with Wikiless, Twitter with Nitter and I tend to use FreeTube on the desktop for Youtube.
