Are you wondering how to map sidewalks in #OpenStreetMap , with tactile paving [0] surfaces but not represented by a separate way?According to taginfo, the most common way are: "tactile_paving:both=*", or "tactile_paving:left=*", "tactile_paving:right=*" , as appropriate.https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=tactile_paving%3AHowever, these are not as common as separated OSM sidewalks that are represented by their own ways.[0]: https://osm.org/wiki/Key:tactile_paving

@MapAmore What about building types, specifically libraries and halls?Actually I suppose the better question is: Does OSM tag building types according to the construction of the building itself, or its current use, or both in different fields?I've been playing around with StreetComplete recently and I think it's doing some strange things here. I need to go contact the dev about it, tbh. I wonder if he's on fedi.

@Zergling_man Usually, it's construction.So, it's not unusual to find a combination like: building=church + building:use=residentialOr, a closer example to what you presented, say building=church + amenity=library. Some might also add building:use=libraryhttps://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/building%3Ause#values

@MapAmore Interesting. Why building=church? I assume that's the actual construction of it, but if I consider my Church's building, vs the hall they have out back, vs the state library a couple blocks away, they're all very different in floorplan, materials, height, insets, wiring, etc.I assume this is where I'm meant to be able to find more info about this.

@Zergling_man You might find the Wiki entry helpful. 🤞 See https://osm.org/wiki/Tag:building%3Dchurch

@MapAmore Kinda. It doesn't explain why it makes sense for a library, because it is Microsoft help; it tells me exactly what I already know and nothing I don't.But the wiki in general seems useful.

@Zergling_man Maybe it doesn't always have to make "sense"?Let's say an old church building , still usable, but repurposed as a community library, because they have a newer building they use for worship services?

@MapAmore Fair enough.
