I know I posted this before but I'm gonna do it again to make sure it reaches as wide as possible.. The following domain: "d-fens.systems" went live a little while back and when checking out the instance it has 2 accounts. The admin(that follows known racists in the Fedi) and a 'FollowBot' that automatically follows as much accounts as possible.Why would this be an issue you say?Well! A while ago some bad actors made via the exact same way a follow bot that added people into "groups" that they thinked we belonged in like: "gay, lefist, activist, trans" etc etc!These lists can only be used for targeting people online and we DO NOT WANT THIS in any way! I again, I urge #Fediverse admins to domain block "d-fens.systems" ASAP.#FediBlock

@stux I'm thinking of maybe just writing a rule against any follow bots. That would cover this instance, and future ones.I don't see a good reason for a robot to follow accounts.

@stemid Good point! I think I’ll do the same👌🏻♥️In the past it did make sense to create connections between instances but these days we have relays for that so follow bots are kinda stalking-ish :yikes:

@roboneko @stux i expect everything to be scraped, for sure, and well it's going to be scraped anyway because i don't require authorised fetches in the first place. it's on the internet, it's gonna happen.just don't wanna encourage it, and i prefer real people, so i just block followbots on sight. it's useless blocking that instance, for me, considering those things; but i thought it was curious.

@stux and to all in this threadThis #followbot was going to follow me as well, so I searched for what it stands for and found several recommendations to block it.It was not really clear to me what it means to "block". After realising it I did block it too. But since than I'm aware that blocking an account (what a bot finally is) or an instance does not saveguard you from being stalked or observed or surveyed by others for what reason ever.

@stux personally the only reason i would personally block any instance will always be "spam", in the generic sense.even targeting doesn't really bother me, and yes, i lived a targeted life even though it may not look like.however...i would love to come up with strategies to fight against such stupidity, and i think the best strategy goes somewhere near empathy. 🥰just don't ask me (yet) any further insight as i just came up with this one and it will take some time to process it in my background mind, i guess! 🤣
