I'm not completely sure, but evidence suggests that I might be incredibly stupid.

@mike One of the top reasons I love New England. Ive seen exactly one venomous snake...ever...and it was in the care of a park ranger. Other than a bad run-in with a subterranean yellow jacket nest as a child and having to do the whole "HEY BEAR!" thing occasionally on hikes I feel far more safe here than any other part of the country. No real killer animals, significant storms, earth quakes, or wild fires is the life for me.

@mike I used to be stationed in AZ. If it's not the venomous animal, it's the heat that will get you. Lol

@MrBuggles Heh, I've seen many, MANY a venomous snake in the wild. Ate one when i was a kid actually. My uncle caught it in his driveway and he fried it up and we all got to try a bit of it. That sounds just so redneck when I actually read that back.

@mike I went camping in TX once and, within a 12-hour period, killed a scorpion inside the tent, nearly stepped on a rattling rattlesnake, and saw a huge tarantula cross the walking path in front of me. So, when I went hiking later in the day and read that there were cougars around, I believed it! The coyotes were also pretty obnoxious when trying to sleep. Was not relaxing!

@greypilgrim Yea, we have the cougars and coyotes too. I've had coyotes in my yard. We also get stuff like bobcats and javelinas. Basically lots of annoying stuff on top of the stuff that just poisons you.

@mike so what this tells me, is that if you want to move to north America, you should move to Canada.

@kev @mike basically this map shows how hard it is for species to survive in the wild... You're far more likely to die from snow related deaths than venomous creatures.

@kev @mike it's usually the multi-ton wheeled bricks piloted by idiots that get ya! But maybe Canadians are better than Americans when it comes to doofuses behind the wheel.
