👋 As part of upcoming milestones, we're implementing a way for users to create circles (like in the old G+), but going beyond using it to define audiences (i.e. visibility of content), with very granular ways to define permissions on what you post (i.e. so you can give one of your circles permission to edit your post, or use it simply to lock-down who can reply, etc): https://github.com/bonfire-networks/bonfire-app/issues/223

Along with that will come customisable roles for instance administration and moderation (to go beyond just having "admins"), and so we're thinking about what's needed for that, feedback and suggestions are welcome 😃, see details at https://github.com/bonfire-networks/bonfire-app/issues/406Related discussion on the Bonfire playground instance: https://playground.bonfire.cafe/post/01G6Z11G4JE5GF3B12QFXTBV57

@bonfire > customisable roles for instance administration and moderation (to go beyond just having "admins"), and so we're thinking about what's needed for that, feedback and suggestions are welcomeI'm currently working on a similar thing for Pleroma https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma/-/merge_requests/3676So the idea is that you need certain privileges to be authorised to call certain endpoints. You can define what roles have what privileges. Those roles can be given to users. ATM we keep the moderator and admin roles, but in the future those can be expanded with custom roles.

@bonfire @ilja I've mentioned before the "Community has no Boundary" concept, where there's a collection of meaningful relationships to other Actors.I started with Groups having a "relationships" property, but later realized that how https://valueflo.ws model Agents, is the best way. Most flexible. Where the "relationships" property exists on the abstract Actor level. In this model there's also the distinction to Permissions, which are a different concept.

@bonfire @ilja In this model you can be:- Tester of a software team- Sponsor of a tennis club- Contributor to a code forgeRelationships being like:- Person A [sponsors] Group BAnd what that entails for the permissions that come with the relationship being established, is a different concern, modeled separately.

@bonfire This is what I missed most about G+. The ability for someone to follow me for just one of their interests and just get *that* content stream of mine and not the whole of what I share whether it annoyed them or not. That's what a social network should be.

@Bonfire @Tim Chambers @Humane Tech Now @ilja  Have been doing pretty much all of this and more for the last decade, except we don't have unique permissions for circles because membership in different circles can overlap and this could result in permission conflicts. We apply permissions to individuals but you can define unique permission "sets" and name them - so the end result is the same. This is neither a critique or one-up-manship. Nobody cares what I'm building these days and I'm ok with that. Just glad to see somebody else thinking progressively instead of re-inventing yet another corporate service "with federation". Would be happy  to check out bonfire and do some interop testing when you're ready to federate.
