malthusianism is wrong. it has always been wrong. it will always be wrong. “overpopulation” is a classist, racist MYTH created by white capitalist imperialists and the bullshit artists who support them.

the problems we are facing as a species and a planet are created and exacerbated by 1) capitalism, which is to say “the profit motive”, and the resource-hoarding of the ultra-wealthy2) imperialism, which is to say “the profit motive”, and the domination of exploited nations by exploiter nations 3) racism4) classismwe have the capacity to produce enough food, goods, and materials to set up every living human on the planet for life, and probably to continue to do that forever. the problem has never been “too many people.” the problem is “too many rich, white, imperialist people causing problems for the rest of us.”

iirc, over half the total grain and corn grown in the us goes to cattle feed. this state of affairs was created by settler-colonialist capitalist landowners and industrial agribusiness, and it benefits nobody but those people. if we take them out, remove the profit motive from the equation, we can MASSIVELY de-scale beef production and reduce grain/corn/soy monoculture, and repurpose that farmland to grow any numbers of things to feed human beings with, especially Indigenous communities stuck in food deserts for 200 years or more, as well as other underprivileged communities. and that’s just one example from one sector. revolution means rethinking and radically altering or outright abolishing exploitative, pollutative, and otherwise harmful systems to create a just, ethical, and equitable world for all people.

manufacturing (around the world) produces hundreds of millions of commodities, if not more, which will never be used or even purchased. everything from disposable eating utensils to PC components to semi trucks. and this is accomplished using tons and tons and tons of fossil fuels, producing incalculable amounts of pollutants and industrial waste. this, again, is at the behest of the ultra-wealthy factory/corporation owners and stockholders. we have more than enough stuff, and could produce future stuff on an as-needed basis, but that model would not benefit the capitalists. all of this is avoidable.
