So, about me: I’m 31 years old, born and raised at the western edge of the Atlanta metro, but I moved to the mountains in August of 2020. I brew craft beer for a living, and work part time as a barista and cook. I also volunteer at a food pantry and hang around the Ellijay Makerspace when I can. I own my own home and car, plus I have a cute dog. I like building model robots, reading, and lots of different kinds of games. I have a lot of skills of varying usefulnesses.

i’m partway through chapter 2, “cult of the covenant,” and i’m thrilled to see RDB bringing up number one spiritual bastard john calvin and his pernicious (and perennial!) influence on settler ideology. RDB draws a direct line from calvin’s predestination ideology of “the elect” to white supremacist settler colonialism and moreover to the worship of the constitution and other aspects of the us government. this book is damn good.

iirc, over half the total grain and corn grown in the us goes to cattle feed. this state of affairs was created by settler-colonialist capitalist landowners and industrial agribusiness, and it benefits nobody but those people. if we take them out, remove the profit motive from the equation, we can MASSIVELY de-scale beef production and reduce grain/corn/soy monoculture, and repurpose that farmland to grow any numbers of things to feed human beings with, especially Indigenous communities stuck in food deserts for 200 years or more, as well as other underprivileged communities. and that’s just one example from one sector. revolution means rethinking and radically altering or outright abolishing exploitative, pollutative, and otherwise harmful systems to create a just, ethical, and equitable world for all people.

manufacturing (around the world) produces hundreds of millions of commodities, if not more, which will never be used or even purchased. everything from disposable eating utensils to PC components to semi trucks. and this is accomplished using tons and tons and tons of fossil fuels, producing incalculable amounts of pollutants and industrial waste. this, again, is at the behest of the ultra-wealthy factory/corporation owners and stockholders. we have more than enough stuff, and could produce future stuff on an as-needed basis, but that model would not benefit the capitalists. all of this is avoidable.

a tv show starring john hinckley jr. in which he travels back in time to assassinate every u.s. president in reverse order in increasingly bizarre wayspoisons one of trump’s big macs. hits obama with a drone strike. straps bush ii to the front of a plane. this is a family show so i won’t say what happens to clinton but it is extremely funny. bush i gets crushed by a gigantic block of frozen broccoli. reagan gets obliterated by an 80mm shell at 5ftetc etc all the way back to dropping a naval mine in the delaware river as a little surprise for george washingtonmeanwhile, b plot, the scientists who sent hinckley back in time watch the world get weirder and weirder as the timeline shifts. i would love to watch this.

Y’all really seemed to enjoy the toot about the hot sauce so here’s another idea for making the world a little more efficient: over/under washer/dryer but with a trapdoor system so you don’t have to manually move your wet clothes two feet one handful at a time.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) raided the “teardown house” this morning (wed 31 may 2023) and arrested three Atlanta Solidarity Fund organizers. ASF provides financial and logistical support for people arrested in the metro area, helping to pay for the inhumane bail numbers set by fascist courts, as well as connecting incarcerated people to legal counsel. The message that the fascists overlords of the state of Georgia are sending is clear: if you speak out against Cop City, or provide support to those who do, we’ll come for your ass too.
