I haven’t had peaches in years. After eating one, I am appalled to taste nothing but strange chemicals. They don’t taste anything like they used to. Maybe it’s all in my head.

Store bought fruit is terrible now! :yotsuba_angr: Even the "organic" fruits peaches/nectarines turn out to be bland and dry, for the most part. You could try looking for locally grown stalls/markets, if you can't plant any fruit trees.

Try not to get ones that have been imported from a far distance - chances are they were frozen or made cold enough to stop the ripening process; look for local ones that are kept at room temp and are soft to the touch - if a little force from your fingers can start to bruise them, they should be good.

@Matty Tomatoes are the paramount example of this. I recall eating Soviet tomatoes in Russia in the 80s and this things had flavor without needing salt and pepper.
