I still find myself feeling frustrated at the state of contact and calendar syncing on Linux.

@obsolete29 For more than 1 year, I have been running radicale on https://www.freedombox.org/buy/ for CardDAV and CalDaV and I am connected to it on computers (Gnome Evolution or Thunderbird) and mobile phones (DavX). No admin work so far.

@oseo @obsolete29 yes radicale works very well, once set up you can forget about it

@cipper @oseo I wish linux distros had CalDAV and CardDAV clients on the Accounts screen.

@obsolete29 100%!I think @elementary approach is promising (maybe it already works for task lists and calendars?) but they are still missing a Contacts app and don't seem to have one planned either so that won't land any time soon.

@iooioio Oh, I've not seen what their approach is exactly. When I bring this topic up though most Linux people go about explaining the difference between a DE and the OS. There's like this weird disconnect between this topic and Linux people though. As an ex-mac user, calendars and contacts is just not something I ever thought about. These things just synced without thinking about it.

@iooioio @obsolete29 Yup we have calendar and tasks sync working already. There has been some preliminary work on a contacts app but it has a ways to go before it’s anything super useful

@elementary @obsolete29 Thanks for clearing that up. A contacts app (with sync and Mail integration) would be a huge deal. In my (anecdotal) experience not having one has always been a sore point for folks coming from macOS.
