       Kind of bleak I ended up in the very boring "everyone has a smartphone that can do everything they need" timeline, and not the "very cool specialized hardware for public use" timeline.But hey at least we have 3d printers and Wikipedia.

       getting an IM from a friend telling me to check social media because they sent me a meme would be so much cooler if instead I would get paged on a mesh network by my friend telling me to call them ASAP. I head to the nearest video phone booth (I.e. blade runner 1984). They show me the meme. Afterwards I skate home on my hoverboard listening to AI Michael Jackson's 20th rendition of "Beat It (feat.  AI Frank Sinatra)" on my Walkman that uses high density minidisks.

       @kevin I am seriously considering getting a desk phone. Or maybe I should make a desk phone-like mic + speaker combo for a raspberry Pi wich I could set up as a video phone booth for my home!

       @nicemicro I like that idea. Do you get Bluetooth phones that connect to your smartphone? I'm sure you could also modify and old phone and a cheap Bluetooth earpiece.

       @kevin I was trying to find maybe a charger / dock for a smartphone that looks and acts as a desk phone, but it seems like there is no market for such things.

       @nicemicro I have seen handsets that plug into the headphone jack and allow you to take a call with them but they dont ring
