       the problem with xiv healers isn’t that they have a low skill ceilingit’s that they have an incredibly high ceiling, that you literally only use when the DPS players start trying to “optimize” and then five minutes after you’ve carried them through a pull they’ll start talking about how healers don’t contribute anyway

       xiv’s problem with job utility in general is that the goal is parsing and prog is a minor chore before The Real Content, so “did rotation good, got big parse” is an accomplishment, but “did some absolutely unrealistic healing that somehow got people through a mechanic attempt that Should Not Have Worked” literally doesn’t even get noticed or mentioned unless someone reads the parse after and complains that your dps was low from healing them

       maybe prog is just way more interesting than parsing to me because i’m a horrible blue parse trash babymaybe it’s because prog is the only time i can use the other 9/10ths of my kit without someone cutting me off in voice chat to mansplain my own tooltips to me
