Truck's Tuska Day 1 reviews:Church of the Dead opener: Solid opener. Continuing the trend of "a band opening who absolutely should not be playing in daylight."Eluveitie: cool, didn't watch much, discovered the former 3rd stage area is now a very nice chill bar (which was cooler by 5 degrees than outside, and had mint juleps, with ice, and fsck yes I needed that) with some wicked desks that I want but have no room for. (Pictures later.)Elder: HOLY FREAKING SH*T ELDER WAS FREAKING AMAZING HOLY FREAKING BATMANS BATMAN - why does Elder have no merch I wish to purchase their merch, I guess I just have to buy their entire Bandcamp collectionLost Society: was Lost Society. i.e. good, but... other things to see...Marianas Rest: _WOW._ New 4th stage sound is _DAMN WELL DONE_ (actually this year's Tuska didn't have any real serious sound issues, well, no lingering ones. The ones that were discovered were fixed.) Bought their album during the set off Bandcamp. Solid death doom.

Then short break for foodRed Fang: Excellent working of old and new bits into the set, just solid, solid set, I came for Red Fang and was obviously not dissappointed.I have never had a pick from a show before despite having seen a load of shows... and, well, the drumstick Nick Menza threw at us during a Megadeth gig in Cleveland ... my friend fell backwards off the chair and missed it and therefore we have the story of him falling off the chair and not the drumstick.I now have a pick from Red Fang that was SERIOUSLY used. I mean, HEAVY use on that pick. Actually have NO idea if it was Aaron's pick or Bryan's, I do NOT think it's David's as that would have been very ... that would have been a seriously odd angle and velocity to get to me. Anyway. I have a pick. YAYSCarcass: was Carcass. I like Carcass. I do not need to see Carcass after Red Fang because I need to recuperate.Polymoon: WHAT DECADE IS ITno reallyWHAT DECADE IS IT?Because that was some SERIOUS 1970's vibe

Heilung: Awesome.Tent where they played: 10 degrees hotter than outside. I.e. 40 degrees or so. Had to get more water and stuff after about 20 minutes. Also tired.I'll see them in November so... well I don't have tickets for that yet but I will.Sort of wish I'd seen Polymoon's entire set because the Heilung bit was so hot.Korn: I went to see ONE song by Korn (because they just plain aren't going to play much of the first album, MAYBE if I was lucky they'd play Blind but anyway) they OPENED with it (w007) (Bring it down bring it down bring it down bring gotta bring it down gotta bring it down gotta bring it down gotta bring it BASS BASS chuggachuggachuggachugga BASS BASS ) so I could come home and take a very needed shower and realize how much my throat hurts from singing with Red Fang and how much my feet hurt from being on them all day.So. Yes. Tommorrwow, 13:30, Bloodred Hourglass/Shape of Despair. I'm down.

@espen Yes. Yes they have. It's where I finally got to see Ego Fall. (Mongolian band. Before the Hu. I _really_ like Mongolian throat singing, and they were the first metal band I ever heard who incorporated it.)It's an excellent festival and I have enjoyed it every year since 2008 EXCEPT the year I got the flu, which of course is when Body Count were playing, and _I WANTED TO SEE ERNIE C PLAY F*N GUITAR_ but no I got sick so...

@Truck Thanks for the tip, I'll look into that. My somewhat weird music taste led me to Khusugtun a few years ago, and I think but not certain I've heard it combined with saami music at some point. But yeah, its cool. But .. damnit, this looks like I need to have the "You stay at home with the kids, I'm just popping over to to Finland for the weekend" conversation 😇
