       @theruran A lot of machine learning things I read about feels a little that way. "What if we could solve this problem without having to understand it?" :/

       @cstanhope @theruran I think that's actually the dominant reason for machine learning research and it's increasing capitalization. It's seen as a short-cut around having to do the work of understanding any particular aspect of reality. Which is of course a terrifying ideology.
