       @ethernutt@terrible.place @shibao@misskey.bubbletea.dev I settled on a Nortel 4850GTS-PWR+ in the end, was the best price I could find for the features I wanted (PoE, 1G ports, 2x 10G SFP+)

       @evelyn @shibao damn that's surprisingly cheap on ebay. Fan might be a little loud but I have a similar Cisco switch (WS-C3750X-48PF-S) and it wasn't noticeable over the other garbage. Hopefully it isn't picky about cables. If you have issues there, fs.com sells Avaya/Nortel compatible transceivers.

I did briefly look at 2.5G switches but those are fairly expensive, I guess because they fit a niche which isn't appealing to really anyone - too much capacity for consumers, too little for business. Thanks for the tip on transceivers too!
