@icedquinn i looked a bit through the servers which the queer . party instance has banned and if they weren't servers full of bigots they were usually banned because their admins didn't set or enforce rules. seems reasonable to me?

@EnbyJo its a reference to some academic papers that were looking at how places like FSE and Spinster were the most banned across all of [observed by the university] fedi, but when they tried to use a metric to measure average user toxicity they found that despite places like SPC and Neckbeard being censored widely (because fediblock) there wasn't actually widespread "toxicity."basically, fediblock screechers see someone they disagree with and mob the whole instance to be removed. but most users on servers are normal or occasional shitposters.

@EnbyJo not related to the paper, but neckbeard was instance banned sometimes just because SJW was busy being at work when they issued the demand for someone to be unpersoned. lol

@icedquinn @EnbyJo I have an account on qoto.org. Large parts of the fedi are inaccessible to me from there because there was a huge amount of whining directed at the site admin because he wouldn't block instances as they liked.

@icedquinn @EnbyJo Now, to be fair, blocking is a feature I use for some cases (though very rarely). But I personally think that that should be a matter of user and individual site owner's choice rather than social pressure.

@mathlover @EnbyJo they don't even bring receipts for it anymore. it's just someone puts a hit out on you with a nametag and unsubstantiated allegations and the hash tag.i muted disqordia (personal mute, i'm not admin here) because their users were showing up in threads to poison the well ("quinns a transphobe! no receipts though.")
