@icedquinn @EnbyJo Now, to be fair, blocking is a feature I use for some cases (though very rarely). But I personally think that that should be a matter of user and individual site owner's choice rather than social pressure.

So I’ve heard Musk’s purchase of the bird-themed hellsite will likely not be finalized until this fall. This means two things:If and when Musk stops milking this for drama on Twitter, The current wave of new Fediverse members will likely peter out. While Musk has a short attention span, he’s also a narcissist and craves drama, so I don’t know if or when he’d stop talking about it.The second wave I’ve predicted in my previous post—when Musk actually gets control of Twitter—will likely happen in the middle of the midterm election campaigns in the US. There will be a lot more eyes on Twitter at the time and people will be more emotional in general; as a result, I expect an even bigger wave than if it were to happen next month.

@icedquinn I remember this being an issue when I was trying to get LBRY in 2020 or so. I had to get an external exchange, get verified, etc.In the end, it was too much and I didn't really have a need for more LBC in the end

@icedquinn @DotardTed I doubt Putin is going to lob nukes over this. I think his nuclear threats are a bluff, and I don’t think he’s going to risk a full nuclear exchange, and the resultant annihilation of himself and his domain, over the US giving aid to Ukraine. On a tangent, it’s also not clear how well his arsenal of nukes has been maintained since the fall of the Soviet Union. Then again, even if 1% of his arsenal is still operational, that’s still enough to give everyone a really bad day if he uses them.

Even if it's a single small nuke and the fallout is insignificant (a la Hiroshima), you still have a huge crisis in that region, even if the rest of the world isn't directly affected.On the other hand even an exchange between two countries (say India and Pakistan) would have severe global ramifications.

Here is an article from earlier in the war on this.Historically, there have been multiple instances of the US giving material aid to other countries without declaring war, which did not result in retaliation from other combatants. A notable example was aid given to the UK and others in World War II.
