       @puniko @a1ba use tup :blobcatsmilehappy: actually tup doesn't do configure stuff, and meson refuses to support nonstandard project layouts, so cmake is still necessary :blobcatsadpats2:

       @a1ba @puniko i remember waf. non-daw used it. some music stuff on linux used to use it for a while.what i like most about tup is it does filesystem monitoring to determine dependencies, so you just tell it how to make the file you want and you never think about it again.if the compiler reads any given file it gets marked by monitoring so all the dependencies are always policed and the whole build file can be like 2 lines of code and that's without a mountain of special edge cases built in like meson/cmake. :comfyheart: doesn't work on a lot of VPS because the file monitor shenanigans get offended. but its great where it does work.

       @norm you see, even autotools have advantages.Like it ./configure --help while CMake has option() and cache variables but it's USELESS without GUI
