@hbenjamin Nice! Yeah, it's a gorgeous app, I can't deny it.I'm just struggling to find users to follow. I like looking at the local and federated timelines, but I don't see any options for a public timeline?

@fatboy @fdroidorg I also don't find the possibility to look at other timelines or the lists I use to group interesting accounts. Hopefully that will come in the future.

@hbenjamin @fatboy Why won't the local timeline ever implemented? Doesn't that like defeat the purpose of joining an instance? I joined @fosstodon because I like open source software and :fosstodon: and want to talk about. If I can't see my local timeline then there's nothing really differentiating my instance from yours.

@asteroidrainfall @fatboy @fosstodon because Eugen thinks the amount of useful posts in the local timeline is far to less: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon-ios/issues/221#issuecomment-890335633I can see how that is true on one of the flagship instances (mastodon.social and mastodon.online) but that move just hurts smaller communities or even makes mastodon instances for cities and local communities far less useful.

@hbenjamin @fatboy @fosstodon That's extremely disappointing to read. I learned about fedi in 2018 and joined mastodon.social cause it was branded as the "main instance". I quickly lost interest cause it was so hard find a community there. I recently got back in to the fedi over at fosstodon.org and it's so much easier to have meaningful conversations even when I don't have any IRL friends on here. I think the probably isn't the local timeline but the push for all newbies to join mastodon.social

@selea @hbenjamin @fatboy @fosstodon You mean it was made with @ Gargron@mastodon.social's goals? You can still login to whatever instance you want to on there. Seems that way for a lot of new features on mastodon. Over here, even through our servers have been updated to Mastodon 3.5, the explore page has been broken since launch. On mastodon.social, it works great though.

@asteroidrainfall But well, I can't say that the launch of the app has impacted this instances sign-ups negatively - because it has not. We've seen an thousand percent increase during the last week (but it may be the twitter fallout too).However, it may impact smaller instances more dramatically.
